Memes are an integral part of life. They provide much-needed humor in our lives. The same can be said for anime. So when the two come together, it’s a magical experience. It’s sort of like when you combine pineapples and pizza, except it doesn’t suck.

Pizza toppings aside, check out the Best Anime Memes from 2018!

All Might / Johnny Bravo

We all know the story of All Might. The Symbol of Peace inherited the One For All quirk, giving him super strength, speed, and invulnerability. Only to receive a server injury during his battle with All For One, causing him difficulty to stay in his Hero Form for extended periods of time.

But it’s funny to see a call back to an old show on Cartoon Network, Johnny Bravo. The series also features a buff blonde guy with a black covering over his eyes. Though the similarities might end, there it is a funny reflection to see both characters in their weak and powerful form. Curious on how the legendary Johnny Bravo got his muscles? My Hero Academia: How to know whose important

One of the best parts of anime is how unique the characters are. If you are lucky enough to be the Main Character, chances are you are going to be a little more detailed in your design. Side characters are important too, so they can be flashy, but not as much as the MC. Background characters. However, there is only so much time the animators can spend on everyone else.

The meme is honestly so spot on. Whenever the important characters are on screen, you can immediately tell who they are. It’s a clever format that takes from the “Spot the Main Character” anime meme.

You Will Never Understand Our Love

This is just one of the best anime memes period. Honestly, anything involving SpongeBob tends to be an A-tier meme.

Not everyone watches anime, so they can’t relate to those of us who love it.

Anime Is Just for Children

This is one of the most underrated anime memes from 2018. It calls out all those people that say “anime is for kids”. Yet, they are the same type of dudes that binge-watch Family Guy every night.

Punch Through the Screen

If I could have any superpower, this would be it. Dealing with some people online is the worst! If I could give them a quick punch to the face, I know that would make me feel better.

Can We Go Home Yet?

I’m with Megumin. (At least in my dreams, I am.) But seriously, every time I leave the house, I can’t wait to get back home.

Heaven & Hell

This meme was originally from a student in Med School, but it’s relatable to any of us that has to deal with people for a living. We all start off naïve, wanting to see the best in society. But over the years… you grow wiser.

Lost Internet Connection

This picture speaks for itself. There’s nothing more infuriating than when the internet doesn’t connect. Which always seems to happen right before the newest episode drops.

Food In Anime Always Looks Good

If there was one thing I could teleport out of the screen to my room, it would obviously be my waifu. But if I got to choose a second thing, it would be the food in anime. It always looks SO good.

Highschool Lunch In Anime Vs In Real Life

This is probably the most depressing anime meme from 2018. For those of you that don’t go to a public school in the United States, the food at school sucks. It’s awful. Even pizza manages to be a sad excuse for food when schools get ahold of it. Yet, I still remember being overjoyed when Pizza Day comes around.

Once again, the food in anime is nothing but a smorgasbord of deliciousness. Just isekai me away already.

Somebody Say Cake?

So apparently, 2018 was the year of food for anime memes. Not that I’m complaining. Just remember not to get between Erza Scarlet and a piece of cake.

Brock’s New Phone

Brock is my favorite character from Pokemon. So it’s sad to see that he would have trouble unlocking his phone with the iris scanner. SEE what I did there? (I just did it again)

Because My Cat Told Me To Do It

The plot in Sailor Moon has always been a little heavy-handed. Often getting into all sorts of trouble just because her cat Luna told her to do something. But if I had a magical cat that could talk, I’d probably listen too.

Wrong Coffee

I can’t tell you the number of times I order a coffee or pick up my food from Chick-fil-a and they get my order wrong. And I never seem to notice till I’ve left, so all I can do is be angry.

Not Listening to This

Ever been stuck in a group chat with some annoying drama you don’t care about? Well, I got the perfect reaction image for you. Courtesy of Kirino from Oreimo.

Forced JoJo

How many of you all know that one guy that always tries to get you to watch Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure? If you don’t, I got bad news for you. You’re the guy in the picture.

My Love Life

I’m starting to think I might not be the main character of my own life anymore. I’m destined to walk in the background as happy couples pass me by.

TFW It’s the Last Episode

The last episode of good anime might just be the worst part because that means it’s over. For some series, we don’t even have the hope of a second season to get us through the year. I know I’m guilty of putting off watching the last few episodes of a series, just so they can live on a bit longer in my head.

You Have One Job

If you haven’t seen Rick and Morty yet, you’re missing out on some serious meme potential. In this episode, Rick creates a mini robot whose sole purpose is to pass him butter for his pancakes.

We’ve seen this in some anime as well. It seems like the creator just drops in cute anime girls to be… well, cute. They don’t really seem to add any story or plot progression. Not that I’m complaining.

Taylor Swift’s Death Note

Fan of TayTay Swift or not, you’ve probably heard her song “Blank Space”. The song is essentially about Taylor Swift being a serial dater, who still has more blank space, to add additional names to her list of ex-boyfriends.

This 2018 anime meme is quite clever to link the song’s lyrics to that of a Death Note. Interested in Death Note parodies popping up in the world of other animes? Why not check out all of them?

At least we don’t have to worry about Taylor Swift getting her hands on a Death Note. Right??

Too Hot to Handle

We don’t get enough memes from Amagi Brilliant Park. Big props to Seiya for having such confidence in his looks.

Every time My Parents Walk-In…

This happens all the time! I’ll be watching the most epic scene in an anime or movie. Then as soon as someone walks into my room, BAM it’s the most ecchi scene of the series. But hey, it’s only embarrassing if they leave. It’s something totally different if they stick around to watch it with you.

Come At Me Bro

You challenge a dude to a fight, and the next thing you know, he throws a jar of mayonnaise all over your face. I mean, that is mayo, right?

I Can’t Stop Fantasizing

Seriously, some of the characters they put out in anime right now are incredibly attractive. Like, over 9000 levels of attractive. No point in resisting. Just give in to your fantasies now.

It’s A Trap!

Is it just me, or was 2018 the year of the trap? Every anime you watched, you knew at least ONE female character was going to turn out to actually be a guy. Luckily, we had Admiral Ackbar from Star Wars to have our back.

Got Milk?

Homogenized milk is milk that has gone through the process to give its white, rich, and smooth texture. Milk that hasn’t been homogenized contains a layer of cream that rises to the top and- wait this is just making things worse.

Why would Island Farms shorten it to Homo??

Earth-Chan

Earth-chan originally debuted at the end of 2017. However, we didn’t really start to see all the memes take off until 2018. She originally came out to proclaim that she “was not flat”, but I’ll let you be the judge of that.

Is This A Meme?

The “Is this a pigeon” meme was actually started in 2011, as an example of transcription fail. However, it is the direct translation of the original line from the series “The Brave Fighter of Sun Fighbird”.

We added it to this list because, in 2018, this meme saw a massive resurgence, where memes were created by replacing the butterfly with other objects and changing the text at the bottom. The female version is from the anime “You’re Under Arrest”, but with fake subtitles.

Still, we think they make a cute couple.
